Serial Arterial Spin Labeling May Be Useful in Assessing the Therapeutic Course of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis: Case Reports
نویسندگان
چکیده
We report two cases of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) which serial arterial spin labeling (ASL) was useful in evaluating the clinical course of the disease. A 48-year-old female presented with acute seizure, and was diagnosed as transverse-sigmoid sinus thrombosis. ASL imaging revealed low signal intensity in the right temporal lobe, suggesting the decreased perfusion by elevated venous pressure. Soon after the treatment, while the development of venous collateral has not fully observed by magnetic resonance (MR) angiography, low ASL signal within the right temporal lobe have shown remarkable improvement. A 65-year-old female presented with vomiting and subsequent seizure was diagnosed as superior sagittal sinus thrombosis. The low ASL signal within the right frontal lobe seen in the acute stage improved to the normal level by the course of time, before the good collateral can be seen by MR angiography. This is the first report to assess the sequential change of the cerebral perfusion of CVT by ASL, and ASL may provide additional useful information in combination with conventional modalities.

Sudden Bilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss Secondary to Cerebral Venous Thrombosis
Introduction: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is an important otological emergency. Up to 90% of the cases are idiopathic. Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is an extremely rare identifiable cause as it only represents 0.5% of all strokes. Case Report: In this paper, an unusual case of bilateral SSNHL secondary to bilateral CVT with rapid and complete recovery is reported. The patie...

This is a case study of a 34-year-old woman who was admitted to hospital with a history of severe orthostatic headache. She was diagnosed as having spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) by undetectable cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure at lumbar puncture, and with evidence of diffuse dural enhancement of the brain detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, the contrast-enhance...

Background and Aim: Thrombosis of the cerebral veins and sinuses is a distinct cerebrovascular disorder that most often affects young adults and children. Failure in brain autonomic activity could be provoked because of damage to energy-dependent cellular membrane pumps resulting from cytotoxic edema and cerebral ischemia. Measurement of vasomotor reactivity (VMR) through Trans-cranial Dopp...
